Why We’re One of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky

Creative Lodging Solutions™ has been named to the list of Best Places to Work in Kentucky for six years straight. To what do we owe this success? Our Chief Culture and Development Officer Carolyn Hundley weighs in: “Our vibrant corporate culture and our talented employees are what make Creative Lodging Solutions™ one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky.” Based on high survey scores company-wide, we all seem to agree.

 

Last Tuesday, we celebrated our win with a Best Places to Work Dinner in downtown Lexington, KY. We enjoyed a night of food, drinks, and fun with a group of 90 small, medium, and large companies committed to outstanding employee satisfaction. What does the Best Places survey rate? The 8 core focus areas in determining Best Places are: Leadership and Planning, Corporate Culture and Communications, Role Satisfaction, Work Environment, Relationship with Supervisor, Training, Development and Resources, Pay and Benefits, and Overall Engagement.

 

Unique benefits set CLS™ apart from many other companies. For example, CLS™ employees receive a full paid week off to engage in the community service activity of their choice. Several employees enjoyed Junior Achievement, a financial literacy program that teaches kids a vital life skill–how to make, maintain, and manage money. JA volunteers from Creative Lodging Solutions™ work in neighborhood schools around Lexington, KY. However, other employees venture far to serve others. For example, one CLS™ account manager headed to Guatemala for her  community service project. She loved seeing how much a difference she made when she lived in the jungles of the Central American country for a week. She advises all CLS™ employees to take advantage of such an incredible opportunity: “ I LOVE THE COMMUNITY SERVICE BENEFIT! I highly recommend it to all at CLS™, whether it is for a few hours down the street or for a big international project like mine.”

 

What do the employees have to say? “After working for ‘Corporate America’ for several years, it was so refreshing to join CLS™ where I’m treated like a real person,” says one team member from CLS™’ Hotel Network Management department. Back in November, we had a Benefits Fair where various vendors came to CLS™ to discuss many programs employees could take advantage of, from cheap gym memberships to educational reimbursement plans. At this fair, we asked everyone who passed by to answer a survey about their favorite parts of work environment here. Three answers prevailed by a large margin: the people/culture, the free food, and the fun events we participate in together. We admit, we’ve played some pretty interesting games: we have a Halloween costume contest, some watermelon-eating competitions, and a Christmas party dance-off.     As a former employee of CLS, I can promise you that culture and employee satisfaction run high in this organization. I’ve never been a part of a team and company that cares this much for their employees. It truly is like coming to work and leaving your family. I miss everything about this company and what they stand for. The vision and values run deep in every employee. It’s hard not to eat, sleep, and breathe the mission statement. Well done Mike Tetterton, Marsha Couch, and Carolyn Hundley…your fierce leadership and ability to care for your employees truly shows. You’re a great company to work for!

    Susie fit right in with us while she was here. Because our culture is rich in cultivating relationships with our coworker and clients, we are lucky enough to see each individuals colors and personalities shine. I’ve been fortunate enough to make life long friends at CLS during my almost 10 years working for this company.
